Currently she is Delegate of the Rector for European Research, Responsible of the Scientific activities of the National
Agrifood Cluster–Area “Nutrition and Health”, Member as National Expert of the Italian Food for Life platform.
Her research activity, documented by over 180 publications in peer-reviewed journals, is mainly focused on the
characterization of the human intestinal microbiota, in the perspective of its compositional and functional modulation to
promote the host’s health. She is leading a number of European and national projects aimed at studying, by omics approaches,
the relationship among diet, lifestyle and intestinal microbiome for the prevention of diet-related diseases and healthy aging.
