Degree in Physics with score of 110/110 points at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1985. In 1987 he became researcher at the University of Tuscia, Faculty of Agriculture. He spent one year in Stanford at Carnegie Institution of Washington. He was involved in negotiations for the Kyoto Protocol and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Professor at Tymiriazev Academy, Moscow State Agricolture University Russia.
He obtained an ERC (European Research Council) Senior Advanced Grant concerning the role of African tropical forests in the global greenhouse gas balance. He coordinated the IPCC.
He is also appointed as coordinator of the Megagrant n.221 of the Russian Ministry of Science and Technology leading a group of about 40 scientists at the Russian State Agriculture University in Moscow. Currently is also strategic Director of the CMCC, and he is Councilor in “Partito Democratico” group at the Regional Council of Lazio.
