Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna and Italian Representative for Bioeconomy in Horizon 2020 committees, European Commission – World Food Forum R&I Forum Member of Steering Committee

Fabio Fava (1963), with a Laurea degree in “Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies” (University of Bologna, Italy) and a Ph.D. in “Applied Microbiology” (ICT, University of Prague, Czech Republic), is a Full Professor of “Industrial & Environmental Biotechnology” at the School of Engineering of the University of Bologna (Italy) since 2005.

He has about 130 papers on medium/high IF peer-reviewed international journals of industrial and environmental biotechnology, the fields in which he worked in the frame of the FP7 projects NAMASTE and BIOCLEAN (as coordinator), ECOBIOCAP, BIOCHEM, MINOTAURUS, ULIXES, ROUTES, WATER4CROPS, KILL SPILL and BIORICE (as partner).

He is the Deputy Chair of the “Environmental Biotechnology” section of EFB and member of the “Task Force on Working Party on Biotechnology, Nanotechnology and Converging Technologies” at OECD.

Furthermore, he is joining the “High Level Group on Key Enabling Technologies” and the “Expert Group on biobased products” of the DG-GROW (European Commission). Finally, he is the Italian Representative in the Horizon2020 Programming Committee “European Bioeconomy Challenges: Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine, Maritime and inland water research” (SC2) at the European Commission and in the States Representatives Group of the “Public Private Partnership BioBased Industry” (BBI JU).
