Executive Director of the Center for Global Food Security

Gebisa Ejeta is Distinguished Professor of Plant Breeding & Genetics and International Agriculture and serves as Executive Director of the Center for Global Food Security at Purdue University.

Prof. Ejeta currently serves on the boards of the Chicago Council for Global Affairs, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences Board on Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the United Nations Scientific Advisory Board.

Prof. Ejeta has served the U.S. Government in several capacities, including as Special Advisor to the USAID Administrator, as Science Envoy of the U.S. State Department, and was appointed by President Obama as member of the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development in 2010.

The 2009 World Food Prize Laureate and a recipient of a national medal of honor from the President of Ethiopia, Ejeta is a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, the American Society of Agronomy, and the Crop Science Society of America.
