Head of Division, Agribusiness & Rural Development EIB European Investment Bank

PhD in Economics, licensed engineer in agriculture (Dipl.-Ing. agr.). More than thirty years of experience in research, sector policy, public and private project work in industries, services and tourism; in both industrialised and developing countries. In 1989, Dr Jahn joined the EIB.

He has been responsible for projects in the agri-forest and tourism sector, SMEs and services (including intermediated lending) the Bank is supporting. Before joining the EIB’s Sector Expert Group more than 25 years ago, Dr Jahn worked for other international (World Bank) and national finance institutions. After heading the EIB’s division for economic/market questions, then the manufacturing and commercial services (including tourism) division, the Natural Resources & Agro-Industry (NARA) Division, Dr Jahn now leads the Agribusiness and Rural Development Division, which has the responsibility for agro-food-forestry, biomass-based industries – comprising green renewable energy – and rural development.
