Policy Director, Food Industry Asia

Mr. Matthew Kovac joined FIA as the Policy Director in 2014. He is a seasoned corporate affairs professional with more than 17 years of experience specialising in journalism, government and stakeholder relations, policy analysis and corporate communications.

Prior to joining FIA, Mr. Kovac was the Advocacy Director at CropLife Asia, where he provided strategic direction, structure and planning for government relations and stakeholder engagement programmes, representing 7 member companies across 15 countries in Asia Pacific. His role also involved developing the ASEAN Economic Community engagement strategy to advocate with ASEAN secretariat and national governments on the importance of sustainable agriculture and regulatory convergence of pesticide and favourable seed movement through harmonisation of sanitary and phytosanitary measures in Asia.

Before that, Mr. Kovac served as Director of Corporate Communications at Wincor Nixdorf Asia Pacific. Matthew also has extensive experience working as a journalist focusing on economic and political affairs in Taiwan and China.
